Climbing and bouldering are among the few sports that are suitable for almost all age groups and performance levels. Like hardly any other form of movement, climbing and bouldering challenge almost the entire musculature. In addition, balance, coordination, strength and endurance are trained, as well as concentration and self-confidence are strengthened. Through climbing or bouldering together, responsibility is learned, trust in oneself and others is built, and personality development is significantly promoted. And most importantly: it’s a lot of fun!

Numerous institutions, whether with a pedagogical focus or therapeutic and psychological goals, now visit us regularly – with an increasing trend. We are always delighted to witness the enthusiasm with which the participants not only climb the climbing and bouldering walls, but also gain much more: self-confidence, team spirit, perseverance, willpower and physical fitness. Therefore, we would like to thank the sections, clubs, schools and social institutions that bring the fascination of climbing and bouldering closer to a wide variety of groups, enable access to climbing and bring us all together. With reduced admission prices, donations in kind and help with fundraising, we also hope to make a small contribution.

Selected Examples

The climbing team of the Süd-Bayerischen Wohn- und Werkstätten für Blinde und Sehbehinderte (SWW) has been a regular guest at the DAV Kletter- und Boulderzentrum Thalkirchen for six years. The facility offers a variety of living and working opportunities for adults with blindness or visual impairments as well as other disabilities. Their central concern is to promote the joy of life, strengthen self-determination and appreciate the individual personality in its uniqueness.

The SWW climbing project has already taken part in several state-wide competitions. The last milestone was participation in the nationwide Special Olympics with eight qualified athletes. The highest priority remains the joy of movement and sport.

The Munich-based association „Ich will da rauf! e. V.“ (IWDR), which has been a guest at the DAV Kletter- und Boulderzentrum Thalkirchen for many years, has been bringing people together through climbing since 2008. Regularly organized climbing groups enable people with and without disabilities to experience the joy of climbing together. The participants meet each other at eye level – a disability no longer plays a role. The association creates the opportunity for people with disabilities to participate in social life.
